공모 개요

공모 내용

Media is still not free. Journalists are not safe in their profession. These two obstacles thwart the sustainable development of societies around the world.
Every year, May 3rd is celebrated as World Press Freedom Day. It is the official day which celebrates the fundamental principles of press freedom; it is a date to encourage and develop initiatives in favour of press freedom, and to assess the state of press freedom worldwide.

창의적 도전

In preparation for World Press Freedom Day, the eYeka community is contributing to UNESCO’s efforts to raise awareness about the importance of freedom of expression and safety of journalists.

Unleash your creativity for a great cause and claim a better world!
Your challenge is to create a poster (either using photography or illustration) that shows the importance of having a free press and ensuring the safety of journalists. Your creation should be emotional and tell a story. It should not finger-point at any country, culture, or community.

The top 3 winning images will be broadcast during the celebration of World Press Freedom day by UNESCO in Tunisia and during a ceremony at the United Nations in New York where the creators’ eYeka usernames will be mentioned. The top images will also be featured on the UNESCO webpage for the day and made available to 195 Member States for their celebrations during World Press Freedom Day on May 3rd. Following the event, the top imageswill remain as features on UNESCO's web and a certificate from UNESCO regarding their quality contribution to World Press Freedom Day will be given to the winners.

Tips: In dozens of countries around the world, publications are censored, fined, suspended and closed down, while journalists, editors and publishers are harassed, attacked, detained and even murdered while in other countries, free press is the guarantee of having a free society.
Your creation can either demonstrate the risk of not having a free press or show the benefits of having journalists do their work freely.

You might find inspiration in the news or from your own personal experience of a citizen of the world.
